The Taber Cares Charity Program Just Got Bigger

December 23, 2020

The Taber Cares charity program just got bigger.

Oklahoma homebuilder commits to donating even more to local non-profits.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—December 26, 2020—When Taber LeBlanc founded Homes by Taber in 2000, his intention was to do more than build houses. He wanted a business that would be a valuable member of the community, which meant giving back. LeBlanc created the Taber Cares initiative to achieve that goal. This giving back culture officially transformed in 2017, when Homes by Taber started donating $250 per home sold each month to 12 selected local charities, one charity recipient per month.

Homes by Taber has been encouraging local non-profits to apply to become a 2021 recipient with the goal of selecting 12, but with the severe need and outpour they saw from these well-deserving charities, they decided to change up the program and select more charities for next year. In fact, they’re selecting twice as many with 24 charities benefitting next year. These 24 charities will get $200 per house sold in their assigned month to make sure Oklahoma charities are getting more support.

“2020 has been a roller coaster ride for charities. Each charity that we’ve donated to this year has had extreme gratitude. Their fundraising events have been canceled and the normal business donations they’ve depended on have drastically decreased, with more families needing to benefit from the non-profit’s services. In many cases, Homes by Taber’s financial donations have kept their doors open and we want to do as much as we can to help to continue serving Oklahoman’s in need,” says Taber. “Giving back is a part of our company culture and each employee looks forward to seeing how these donations will make a positive impact.”

Prior to the pandemic, Taber employees volunteered a minimum of 16 hours each during their own time or during their work hours, but since on-site volunteer opportunities are limited, financial donations are even more critical. When it’s safe to do so, employees will hit the ground running with new volunteer opportunities within the 2021 selected charities.

The 2021 charities will include:

  • January – Mended Little Hearts and Edmond Mobile Meals,
  • February – Lilyfield and Infant Crisis Services,
  • March -American Lung Association and Dress for Success,
  • April – Heart of a Lion Foundation and Heart and Home Makeover,
  • May – Prisoner Transformation and Sisu Youth Services,
  • June – Angels Foster Family Network and Central Oklahoma Camp,
  • July – Grace Home and City Care OKC,
  • August – Citizens Caring for Children and Regional Food Bank,
  • September – Cavett Kids and Calm Waters,
  • October – Breast Cancer Survivors Oklahoma and Susan G Komen,
  • November – Make-A-Wish and Autism Oklahoma,
  • December – Ronal McDonalds House Charities and Project 66.

Our Happy Homeowners

As a home inspector, I come across Taber-built homes frequently. Without exception these inspections are somewhat boring for me as there just isn’t a lot to find. Today, for example, a new build broke my inspection record for fewest deficiencies. They just build solid, efficient homes with great features. Highly recommended!
