Tornado season in Oklahoma

Although there is a typical time period during the year that we usually refer to as tornado season, the truth of the matter is that the weather can be unpredictable at times. Although our famous Oklahoma meteorologists are superb in giving residents a heads up when severe weather is expected, it’s something Oklahomans should be prepared for at any given time. 

Typically, the months of May and June are when the majority of tornadoes present themselves throughout our state, known as the severe season. As we've learned in previous years, the secondary severe weather season from October through December can sometimes see a significant uptick in tornadoes. With a broad timeline of severe weather to watch out for, the only certainty is that we always need to be prepared for severe weather to hit.
