Our “Proudly Overbuilt” Homes Now Include More Standard Features

April 24, 2019

Spring has arrived. Summer is coming. Here in Oklahoma, we’re putting out the new cushions on the patio furniture and sprucing up the yard for the outdoor living about to happen. If you live in a Homes By Taber home, you have a finished and covered outdoor living space with a fireplace, because we include that in every home we build. But we’ve decided there was still room to add even more. Our “Proudly Overbuilt” homes now include more standard features.

We already include a storm shelter in the garage floor, because Taber LeBlanc doesn’t consider this safety measure to be “optional”. The air filtration system is another standard feature you’ll appreciate this time of year because it’s also allergy season. Taber homes actually includes $75,250 in enhancements that other builders in the region don't that are demonstrated in their Dare to Compare sheet. Shoppers are encouraged to download the sheet and take it with them as they shop other competitors to compare the quality, value, and safety features.

Our homes include upgraded landscaping, not just the usual sod. No one wants to move into a barren-looking yard, right? And, of course, a full sprinkler system with a smart home automation controller is part of the standard package. Forget to turn off the sprinklers? No problem. You'll be able to control them from an app on your phone.

The truly distinguishing exterior standard in our homes is the extent of the outdoor living space. While some builders might lay down a concrete slab and call it a “patio”, that’s not a Taber-acceptable definition. Our outdoor living spaces are wrapped with brick walls on three sides and shaded by a stylish ceiling. We inset a wood-burning fireplace in the brick wall, too. To make it easy to bring your indoor living outside, Homes By Taber runs a gas line to hook up your grill and avoid the annoying task of replacing propane tanks. We also prewire the space for cable (in addition to electricity). Picture you, your family, and friends watching a movie under the stars on a summer night!

The inner Taber

While you’ll certainly spend more time outdoors with all of these tempting advantages, you can also enjoy the indoor comfort—along with the energy efficiency that makes it budget-friendly. Our homes earn HERS scores that save our homeowners an average of $1,508 per year in energy costs as compared to owners of a comparable home that’s slightly older. Run the air conditioning without hearing “Ca-CHING” with every degree because your home’s structure and systems are engineered for efficiency.

One of our most-requested upgrades is wood-look tile. So, Taber decided to move the sought-after choice from options to our “Proudly Overbuilt” list of standard features. Take your pick from a variety of colors at no extra charge! We’ll install wood-look tile in the living room, dining room, kitchen, entry, hallways, and pantry. Picture the warmth it adds to your home and the seamless transition from one space to the next. This flooring is crafted to present the richness of wood, but wood-look tiles are so much easier to care for. Let the kids race around with their toys. Stop worrying about the dog scratching up the floor. Your floor has the durability of tile!

A stylish accent, Homes By Taber also includes pediment treatments (that eye-catching trim accent) above three doors in prominent areas, like over the pantry door, the front or back door, or a garage entry door.

Taber himself also decided that certain upgrades will no longer be upgrades. All bathrooms will include wood-framed mirrors, which is a far better reflection of our ideals. Our homeowners all have preferred this style for mirrors. The frameless style just doesn’t add anything to the look of the bathroom. This simple change converts the functional mirror to a true, finished accent.

One more thing: our kitchen countertops will now give you a choice of granite or quartz, both in 3 cm in every single neighborhood, no matter the square footage home that fits your family’s needs. Like many of the other “Proudly Overbuilt” features, your countertop should begin with the quality we would want in our own homes. Both granite and quartz countertops have their special advantages, and now you can feel free to pick the one you want, at no extra charge. Quartz, which had previously been an upgrade, presents the look of natural stone, and with only 5% resin added to crushed quartz, it’s extremely close to stone. As an engineered surface, quartz provides more choices and the consistency that you don’t find in granite slabs. It can look like granite or marble, subtle or dramatic, and a perfect fit for the Modern Farmhouse style. You can order the color and pattern you like in Homes By Taber’s Design Center and be assured that it’s the surface you’ll have in your new home. At no extra charge for this 3 cm kitchen countertop, homebuyers are happily embracing this new standard feature.

We began our search for a home within a couple of weeks of arriving. The very first place we stopped was at the Taber model home at St James Pointe. When we arrived; Matt Cassell, the community sales manager, was hard at work in his office, but immediately stoppe ...
