Moving to Deer Creek Schools

The district serves portions of three counties: Logan County, Oklahoma County, and Canadian County. Homes by Taber currently builds new homes in the community in Deer Creek schools: Council Ridge. To help you in choosing the right community for you, we profile each of the schools in Deer Creek School District that feed into these neighborhoods below.

Deer Creek Elementary School

Built in 2002, Deer Creek Elementary School is located west of Hwy 74 on Northwest 164th Street in Edmond. Beginning in 2020, the school will serve kindergarten through third-grade students living in the Memorial and MacArthur areas of OKC. It is the smallest elementary school in the district with about 400 students.

Deer Creek Elementary has 50 teachers, faculty, and staff, and a student to teacher ratio of 15.2. All students participate in art, music, PE, STEM programs, and Enrichment Wednesdays. The school also offers extra-curricular activities, including a book club, choir, Academic Team, Art Club, Friendship Club, and Sports Club.

Deer Creek Elementary School has been named a Blue Ribbon School, Healthy School OK, Great Expectation, and Level 4 Marzano High Reliability School. Third and fourth graders at the school scored better than 96.8% of students statewide on standardized tests from the Oklahoma School Testing Program (OSTP).

Grove Valley Elementary School

One of the top elementary schools in Oklahoma, Grove Valley is located just east of Hwy 74 along Northwest 192nd Street in Edmond. Built in 2009, the school is home to kindergarten through third grade students.

The largest elementary school in the district, Grove Valley serves nearly 700 students. It has also been named a Blue Ribbon School. The student to teacher ratio is 20.1, and its students test better than 91% of their peers statewide on the OSTP. Last year, the school’s fourth graders scored higher than the district average in language arts.

Rose Union Elementary School

Rose Union Elementary School is located west of Hwy 74 along Coffee Creek Road in Edmond. The school has grown in recent years, and had over 600 students in 2019-2020. Beginning in fall of 2020, Rose Union Elementary will host kindergarten through third graders within its normal boundaries, as well as all the district’s pre-kindergarten students.

Rose Union Elementary School has a student-to-teacher ratio of 17.2. On the OSTP, students scored better than 93.8% of students throughout Oklahoma. Third graders at Rose Union actually tested higher than the Deer Creek average in language arts.

Deer Creek 4th & 5th Grade Center

The Deer Creek 4th & 5th Grade Center is located west of Hwy 74 on Covell Road in Edmond. Opening just in time for the 2020-2021 school year, this facility will house 1,600 students. It has 64 standard classrooms, as well as 12 special elective classrooms, two media centers, two gymnasiums, two cafetoriums, and a storm shelter.

Deer Creek Intermediate School

Beginning in the fall of 2020, Deer Creek Intermediate School will host the district’s sixth-grade students. The student to teacher ratio is 19.3, and its students test well beyond state averages on the OSTP. In addition to the typical curriculum, the school offers extracurricular activities, such as band and intramural sports. Deer Creek Intermediate is located on MacArthur Boulevard between Coffee Creek Road and Covell Road in Edmond. 

Deer Creek Middle School

A Blue Ribbon School, Deer Creek Middle School is home to the district’s seventh and eighth graders. It is located east of Hwy 74 along 234th Street in Edmond. Fans of “America’s Got Talent” might know this as the school Darci attended!

The school’s students earned incredibly high test scores, more than double state averages. 

Deer Creek Middle School has an Honors Program, as well as a wide variety of extracurricular activities. Students interested in sports can join the school’s baseball, golf, tennis, or track teams. After-school clubs include an Academic Team, Debate Club, National Junior Honor Society, and Youth and Government.

Deer Creek High School

Ranked the 9th best high school in Oklahoma, Deer Creek High School (DCHS) is located just south of the intermediate school at Northwest 206th Street MacArthur Boulevard in Edmond. Home to nearly 1,800 students, the original building has been expanded several times. Now more than triple its original size, DCHS now includes a two-story annex, freshman academy, alumni hall, a multi-sport complex, the Performing Arts & Athletic Center, and a new football stadium.

A Blue Ribbon School, DCHS is renowned for both its academics and athletics. The basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, and track teams have all won state championships. The list of clubs and organizations at DCHS is long. It includes typical groups, such as Pep Club and Art Club, as well as more unique options, such as Piano Club, Robotics/STEM, and Bass Fishing Club.

On College and Career Readiness Assessments, students at DCHS scored in the 98.3 percentile. Last year, 46% of students elected to take at least one Advanced Placement test.

DCHS also offers students several special programs. The Pre-Engineering Academy at DCHS introduces students to career opportunities in engineering and technology. Students interested in programming and software applications may apply for the Computer Science Academy. The Biosciences and Medicine Academy focuses on medical and biotechnical engineering. Juniors and seniors can even enroll in courses at the Francis Tuttle Technology Center in Oklahoma City.

Deer Creek Academy

If you have a child who learns better using a virtual solution, Deer Creek School District may offer additional benefits. The district has been expanding its Deer Creek Academy to serve students who benefit from a customized online curriculum. 

This innovative program aligns with Oklahoma Academic Standards and was developed using the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration Blended Learning Framework. Certified, highly qualified teachers lead online courses. The teachers work with both students and teachers to customize lessons. They monitor each student’s progress with weekly in-person or virtual contact.
