Homes by Taber a Top Workplace

Anyone who works at Homes By Taber can appreciate that this is a unique place. The people, the culture, and the leadership have all come together to create a company that is so much more than a homebuilder. The real testament to our success as a business is the accolades from our employees and customers. When we were recently informed that Homes By Taber’s team put us on the “Oklahoma’s Top Workplaces 2018” list, there was an attitude of “yeah, that’s right!” more than surprised at being selected.

Every year, The Oklahoman seeks nomination from workers around throughout Oklahoma, in categories of Large Companies (350 or more employees), Midsize Companies (125 to 349 employees), and Small Companies (less than 125 employees). A total of 24,619 workers responded with their feedback. With 72 team members, Homes By Taber earned the number three spot on the list of 40 Small Businesses.

The honorees were chosen after the publication’s editorial staff evaluated all nominees on a list of criteria that included:

• Alignment: Where the company is headed, its values, and cooperation
• Effectiveness: Doing things well, sharing different viewpoints, encouraging new ideas
• Connection: Employees feel appreciated and their work is meaningful
• My Manager: Cares about the worker’s concerns, and helps employees learn and grow
• Employee Engagement: Motivation, retention, and referral
• Leader: Confidence in company leadership
• The Basics: Pay, benefits, flexibility, training, and expectations

According to the Oklahoman, factors like pay and benefits did not matter as much to employees as other features of the corporate culture.

“Statements relating to ‘Connection’ and ‘Alignment’ are consistently judged most important to employees, while statements about pay and benefits rate least important to workplace satisfaction.”

Homes By Taber’s workers submitted their surveys anonymously, but we were able to see their comments:

“Everyone strives to reach the same goal and I truly feel part of the team.”

“I am given responsibility and trusted to get it done. No micromanaging.”

“I truly enjoy the people that I work with and the culture that has been created here. I love the positive impact our charity work is having on the community.”

“My job has gone beyond a job. I want to go to work everyday.”

“It allows me to learn and challenge myself to do better.”

“I am allowed to make my own decisions, concerning processes within my department, and those decisions are supported by Management.”

“I love the people I work with and for. I feel the support from all upper management and I feel like the work I do is very important.”

“I love my job because my employers treat me the way I want to be treated as an employee. They show that they value not only our hard work but our input as well.”

“I get to work with a dedicated group of employees who all want to succeed and help each other and the community.”
